Loukia & Mary Alyce join a protest of the Iraq War, circa 2003.

Mary Alyce was one of a kind...we marched against the war in Iraq in San Francisco together and she shared soup recipes with me, and most importantly, she always welcomed me and all of David's graduate students in her home with great kindness and generosity wherever she was—in Michigan and California.

I will miss her.

Mary Alyce was the woman of bright smiles. Whenever we visited 851 Euclid for our end of semester potluck or for meetings, she welcomed us and showed her deepest interests in our studies and research. I will remember her generosity, kindness, and smiles.
